The idea of laser marking products has been floating around for some time now. Several companies have announced the development of technologies that would enable laser marking on an industrial scale. LasX was the first to achieve this feat.

Together with Procter & Gamble, the companies are launching laser marking on Tide Ultra OXI Boost laundry detergent lids. This will indicate the detergent dosage. This will not only facilitate the recycling of the mono-material lid but also provide additional marketing space.

LasX has now scaled up laser marking to 24/7 production on an automated machine. "LaserSharp Marking delivers high-speed, high-resolution laser marking over large areas, making it easy to create vibrant, custom graphics with minimal setup and easy reconfiguration," notes Tom Weigman, Vice President of Technology at LasX.

This isn't the first time these companies have collaborated. Last year, when LaserSharp Marking technology was first introduced, a trial batch of shampoo was released, with the label completely replaced by laser marking. However, at that time, and with the volume of information required, it didn't catch on. Now, however, laser marking has already been implemented in large-scale production.
