Some time ago (quite a while ago, to be honest), we wrote about the development of a prototype tube made from wood fiber. And now, finally, we have the first certified tube that can be recycled like regular paper.

This is a Neopac Group development called PaperX FibreTop. To be fair, the tube is only 85% paper, or more accurately, paper laminate, and has an ultra-thin PE-EVOH barrier coating on the inside. However, even the shoulder and cap are made of paper fiber and are designed for recycling.

The tube can be used to package toothpaste or various cosmetics. Its outer surface is suitable for flexographic and digital printing, as well as embossing. The tube is compatible with standard filling and end-sealing processes.

Production of these tubes is currently in the pilot phase, but the possibility of purchasing them is already open to discussions with the company. We anticipate that, upon receiving a certificate of compliance with the recycling standard, the company will launch mass production.
