More precisely, these plastic cups are made from a material bonded with 100% used vegetable oil through mass balance. The result is a biodegradable plastic container with very interesting properties.

We'll be discussing a new product announced by British companies Polymateria and eGreen International called VeriGreen Plus. It's a biodegradable cup made from a bio-based material that can be recycled and completely biodegrades in the environment without releasing microplastics or toxins. Remarkably, when exposed to environmental factors, VeriGreen Plus triggers a self-destruct mechanism, converting the material into a wax-like substance that is then biodegraded. This wax is completely safe and leaves no harmful residue.

Under normal operating conditions, VeriGreen Plus behaves like standard plastic and has a shelf life of three years. During this period, the self-destruct technology remains dormant, activating only upon sudden release into the environment. During this period, VeriGreen Plus plastic can be recycled like regular plastic.

The new technology has already been launched for production scale-up and will be presented at packaging solutions exhibitions scheduled for February 2026.
